History Of The PNA Bowling League

The Ambridge P.N.A. (Polish National Alliance) Men's Bowling League was developed in the fall of 1958 at Economy Lanes in Ambridge P.A.

The 1958/1959 season began with a total of 30 men. They bowled with 5 men on a team using 6 lanes at Economy Lanes. In the 1959/1960 season, the league expanded to 40 men, 5 men on a team and bowling on 8 lanes.

The P.N.A. League was and still is the strongest and the most competitive league in the Beaver Valley. The league had so many men wanting to bowl that a waiting list was formed

It was 1991/1992 season when the league fell below its 40-man roster. This was only the second time this happened in the 41 years of the history of the league but, that only lasted for one season. In the fall of 1992, a 40-man roster was achieved and it has been a full league ever since.

After bowling at Economy Lanes for over 40 years, the P.N.A. Bowling League moved to Fair Oaks Lanes in Fair Oaks, PA. For one season the league had a 50-man roster and was looking to expand to 60 men however the league has since then has gone back to a 40 man league.

In the 1999/2000 season, the P.N.A. saw its first 300 game in the history of the league. Not only did we see one 300 game we saw TWO 300 games! Tom Sposaro, with an average in the 200's, bowled a 300 in March and then had another 300 game in April it was one of the most exciting things that ever happened in our league. Tom Sposaro and Danny Knight both lead the league with 3-300 games bowled. Then on October 24th, 2000 Joe Baran JR. had 11 in a row until his final pitch when he left a shaky 7 pin that gave him a career high game of 299. Ever since then the league has seen several 299 games bowled.

Today we still have two bowlers who started in 1958 - Ed Klak, and Joe Baran SR.. We still have men bowling with us that started in the league in 1960 and 1961. They say they still have as much fun in this generation as they did in their generation over 30 years ago.

Below is the list of bowlers that have bowled a 300 game in the PNA league. In the weeks, months, and years to come this list will for sure grow.
